Sylvia Fenech Obituary

In loving memory of Sylvia Fenech (Cottage), a remarkable woman who touched the lives of many. Born in England, and daughter to the late Arthur Cottage and the late Winnifred Parish, Sylvia was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother nurturing her family with love and care throughout her life. Married for almost 30 years to the late Joseph Fenech (1931-2008), Sylvia raised three sons.

Sylvia's cherished eldest son, Julian Fenech (Sandra Olson), sadly preceded her in death (1958-2016). Left to mourn the loss of Sylvia are her grandsons, Justin Fenech (Krista Fenech) and their precious daughters Elliet and Finley, and Freeman Fenech who brought immense joy all the way from Sylvan Lake. Sylvia held a special place in her heart for her son Dominic Fenech (Donna Wheeler) and their two sons Liam now residing in Alberta, and Malcolm now residing in Halifax, NS. Sylvia's third son, Dr. Adam Fenech (Jill Stewart) enjoyed the last two wonderful years with Sylvia living on Prince Edward Island. She embraced her role as a grandmother to Benjamin Fenech (Dr. Rebecca Gaudry) now residing in San Francisco, USA, Emily Fenech now residing in Edinburgh, Scotland, and Claire Fenech now residing in Toronto, ON. Survived by her younger sister Angela Koblitz and brother-in-law Mick Koblitz, Sylvia's family circle extended to include her niece Tara Koblitz and grand-niece Natasha Knott, providing each other with love and support throughout their lives.

Sylvia had a passion for art and fashion, finding solace and inspiration in their beauty. Her fascination with animals led her to immerse herself in reading about them, and her deep love for the ocean always called to her. Sylvia's compassionate spirit led her to pursue a diploma in social services, dedicating her time to helping homeless men in Toronto. Sylvia was at heart an artist creating wonderful watercolour and oil paintings, as well as sculpting in stone and bronze. In her youth, she found boundless joy as a dancer in London, England, gracefully expressing herself through movement.

Born on the enchanting Isle of Dogs in England, Sylvia's final years were spent on Prince Edward Island, a place that mirrored the tranquility she sought. She lovingly cared for her feline companions, as cats held a special place in her heart throughout the years. Sylvia had an affinity for water, especially the mesmerizing beauty of octopuses, which captivated her imagination.

As we bid farewell to Sylvia, we remember her as a loving, intelligent, and compassionate woman. Her memory will forever live on in our hearts, reminding us to cherish the beauty of art, the wonders of nature, and the importance of extending a helping hand to those in need. May she rest in eternal peace, forever surrounded by the love and warmth she brought into our lives.

At her wish, there will be no memorial but donations may be made to your local humane society in her honour.
