After a five-year battle with cancer and pulmonary fibrosis, William “Willie” MacCallum passed away peacefully at home on his own terms, surrounded by his loving family, on March 5, 2026, at the age of 76.
Willie loved golf, harness racing, trips to the casino, and a good steak on the barbecue. You could often find him sitting on the patio with his wife, Bonnie, feeding the blue jays. He loved cheering on his grandchildren at the rink or the ball field and rarely missed an event. He enjoyed family trips to Florida and the Dominican Republic. His last trip was to Ontario to watch his grandson, Landon, golf at the Canada Games, a moment he was especially proud of. Willie was the pillar of his family and the first person many called for help or advice. He was known for his quick wit, his one-liners, and the stories he loved to share. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie (née Welsh); his children, Tara (Corey Driscoll) MacCallum, Billy (Michelle) MacCallum, and April Larter (Alan Robinson).
His much-loved grandchildren, Drew (Thomas) Forsythe, Devon Casford, Landon (Kayla Batchilder) MacCallum, Cohen MacCallum, Reegan MacCallum, and Jett Larter, and great-grandchildren Mae and John Forsythe. He was immensely proud of each of them.
He is also survived by his siblings, Brian (Kathie) MacCallum and Linda (Donnie) McGregor; and brother-in-law Delbert Jewell.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Jean MacCallum; his sister, Shirley Jewell; and his in-laws, Walter and Helen Welsh.
Willie’s final days were filled with family and friends, tears, laughter, reminiscing, and the occasional rum and Pepsi.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to his doctors, Dr. Andrew Wohlgemut, Dr. Megan Miller and Dr. Michele Murray, nurses, home care team, the QEH Emergency Department, and EMS for their care and support.
Resting at Belvedere Funeral Home, where visitation will take place on Sunday, March 8, 2026 from 2–5 p.m. His funeral service will be held from the Belvedere Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, March 9, 2026 at 2 p.m.
